Leverkusen bring in Carvajal from Madrid

Group stage contenders Bayer 04 Leverkusen have completed the signing of 20-year-old Spanish right-back Daniel Carvajal from Real Madrid CF for a reported fee of around €5m.

Daniel Carvajal has ended his time with Real Madrid CF to sign a five-year contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

A UEFA European Under-19 Championship winner with Spain last year, Carvajal, a right-back, is reported to have made the move to Germany for a transfer fee in the region of €5m. "Daniel Carvajal is a superb addition for our style of play," said Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler. "He is a player that possesses great technical abilities and offensive qualities and I'm sure he will develop even further. We are happy to have completed this transfer."

Leverkusen will go straight into the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League group stage having finished fifth in last season's Bundesliga and will learn their opponents in the draw on 31 August.
