Ashley Cole has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at Chelsea FC until summer 2014.
The England left-back's deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but he will stretch his stay in west London to eight years after joining the Blues in 2006. In that time the 32-year-old has picked up the Premier League, the FA Cup on four occasions, the English League Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
"I am pleased I will be starting my eighth season at Chelsea," said the former Arsenal FC man, who has twice been named Players' Player of the Year at Stamford Bridge. "I have great memories here and I enjoy coming to training every day. The staff are amazing and I enjoy training with the lads.
"I have been able to fulfil nearly all my ambitions at Chelsea. I have won the Champions League, the league, I have won FA Cups but of course you don't want to stop winning trophies and being at a big club; you are always fighting to win a trophy. I wanted to stay at Chelsea because we are always challenging for trophies. That desire and the will to win things have not gone."
Cole has scored seven times in 293 appearances for Chelsea, who take on AC Sparta Praha in the UEFA Europa League round of 32. The first leg is in the Czech Republic on 14 February.
