Daniel Sturridge declared himself "humbled and happy to be here" after completing his move from Chelsea FC to fellow UEFA Europa League round of 32 contenders Liverpool FC.

Sturridge has signed a "long-term contract" with Liverpool, bringing an end to his three-and-a-half-year stay at Stamford Bridge. The striker, who has four England caps, scored a total of 13 goals in 63 Premier League appearances for Chelsea. "I've signed to be here for as long as possible," said the 23-year-old. "It's a humongous club – for me, one of the biggest in the world – and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing."

Liverpool topped UEFA Europa League Group A and will face FC Zenit St Petersburg in the round of 32, with the first leg in Russia on 14 February. Chelsea join the competition having finished third in their UEFA Champions League section and meet AC Sparta Praha in the last 32.
