SS Lazio will be without Ștefan Radu for the first half of the UEFA Europa League group stage after the Romania centre-back sustained a knee injury which will sideline him for two months.
Radu damaged the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in training with the Serie A side on Wednesday. Following a scan on the 26-year-old today, Lazio said in a statement: "The player will have to wear a plaster cast for three weeks. He is expected to be out of action for eight weeks."
Radu, who joined Lazio from FC Dinamo București in January 2008, has played 130 times in the Italian top flight for the Biancocelesti. He should sit out at least three games in Group J, the fixtures at home to Legia Warszawa on 19 September and away to Trabzonspor AŞ and Apollon Limassol FC on 3 and 24 October respectively.
