Inter coach Roberto Mancini declares himself "annoyed by the result"
• The second leg is next Thursday in Italy, with the quarter-final draw the following day

Kevin De Bruyne, Wolfsburg midfielder
I don't think it was easy for us. Sometimes you perform better in one half than in the other. It wasn't easy when Inter took that early lead, but in the second half we took control and perhaps could have added a fourth. The result is dangerous, but I'd rather be 3-1 up than 3-1 behind. We need to finish this next week.

Dieter Hecking, Wolfsburg coach
The match wasn't entirely to my liking. We made some mistakes and conceded an early goal, which I would have preferred not to see. However, my team did a fantastic job turning the match around. We still need to gain experience and perhaps we were a bit nervous today. We gave the ball away too easily at times. In the second half, we played with more focus and created a lot of chances.

Roberto Mancini, Inter coach
We started the match really well and played good football at the beginning, but then we gave the match away. I am annoyed by the result, because we helped Wolfsburg to score all of their goals. We shouldn't have conceded any of them. Saying that, Wolfsburg thoroughly deserved to win, even if we did make it easy for them with our mistakes. In the second leg, there is absolutely no room for us to make these kind of errors again.

Xherdan Shaqiri, Inter midfielder
I think we can be satisfied with the first half, but in the second half our attitude dropped considerably. Wolfsburg had too much space and used it efficiently. But we won't beat ourselves up too much; we'll aim to give it our all next week. It's important that we don't make individual mistakes like today, however.
