Rapid Wien v Genk background

Rapid Wien and Genk drew twice when they met in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League group stage, but both sides could do with more than a point in a tough-looking Group F.

Supporters of Rapid Wien and Genk will hark back to two draws between the teams three years ago when the clubs get their UEFA Europa League Group F campaigns under way.

Previous meetings
• Both matches ended all-square (1-1 in Genk, 2-2 in Vienna) when the clubs met in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League group stage. The teams for the latter fixture, played on 7 November, were:
Rapid: Novota, Schrammel, Petsos, Sonnleitner, Boyd, Hofmann (Starkl 87), Dibon, Schaub, Sabitzer (Burgstaller 77), Trimmel, Bošković (Behrendt 82).
Genk: Köteles, Mbodji, Tshimanga, Koulibaly, Hyland, Vossen, Gorius, Camus (Kumordzi 90), Ngongca, Buffel, De Ceulaer.

• Rapid's record in 12 games against Belgian opposition is: W4 D4 L4 (W3 D1 L2 at home).

• Rapid made it through the UEFA Europa League group stage for the first time in 2015/16 following four unsuccessful attempts.

The coaches
• Rapid coach Mike Büskens won the 1997 UEFA Cup with Schalke, with whom he spent the bulk of his playing career, later serving on their coaching staff. He then took charge of Greuther Fürth and Fortuna Düsseldorf, before he was hired by Rapid this summer.

• Genk head coach Peter Maes was appointed to the helm in 2015, having guided Lokeren to two Belgian Cup successes. A goalkeeper, the highest-profile campaigns of his playing days were spent as second-choice custodian at Anderlecht.
