Gökdeniz agrees new deal

Trabzonspor's Turkish international midfield player Gökdeniz Karadeniz has signed a new contract.

Trabzonspor's Turkish international midfield player Gökdeniz Karadeniz has signed a new contract with the club.

Contract clause
The 23-year-old midfield player, who has scored thee goals in seven appearances for his country, was contracted to the Black Sea club until 2005, but under the terms of his agreement, his contract could be renegotiated, and the player agreed to sign after discussions with club president Özkan Sümer. The new deal will still expire in 2005.

'Highest-paid player'
"His contract was due to expire in two years but we did not want to exploit him because of that," said Özkan. "We have made him our highest-paid player. As a result, he was satisfied with our offer and agreed to stay with us. He is a very talented and responsible player, who will continue to make a great contribution to our team in the future as he did in the past.”

International debut
Gökdeniz made his debut for Trabzonspor in 1997/98, and has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for club. He made his international debut in a friendly with Czech Republic in April and played all five of Turkey's games in the recent FIFA Confederations Cup, scoring against Brazil and France.
