England Under-21 striker Shola Ameobi has agreed a new five-year contract with Premiership side Newcastle United FC.
Hometown club
The 22-year-old is now committed to the 2004/05 UEFA Cup entrants until 2009 having joined his hometown club as a schoolboy. Ameobi has since made more than 100 appearances for Newcastle, scoring three times in their run to the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League second group stage and claiming the same number of goals as they reached last season's UEFA Cup semi-final.

Ameobi told the club's official website: "Being a Geordie I never wanted to go anywhere else, so I am delighted to sign the contract and look forward to staying here for the next few years."
