Germany midfielder Tim Borowski will end his long-standing service to Werder Bremen by joining Bundesliga rivals FC Bayern München when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Summer switch
Bremen released a statement confirming that the 27-year-old had rejected a new deal with them and would end his stay at the Weserstadion this summer. Borowski will link up with his former national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann who is due to take over at Bayern on 1 July. Borowski was part of Klinsmann's Germany squad that finished third at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Title winner
Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf said: "It's a shame as we would have happily carried on working with Tim." Borowski, who has scored 21 times in 157 league games since his debut in the 2001/02 season, played a vital role as Bremen won the Bundesliga title in 2004. He has also managed two goals for his country in 31 international appearances.
