The UEFA Europa League trophy will be presented by UEFA to the northern German city of Hamburg at a special trophy handover ceremony at the Fischauktionshalle in Hamburg, starting at 13.00CET today.

UEFA president Michel Platini will hand over the trophy to Ole von Beust, the mayor of Hamburg, for the city to keep and display to the public until the final, which will be played at the Hamburg Arena on Wednesday 12 May from 20.45CET. The ceremony will also be attended by representatives of FC Shakhtar Donetsk, last season's final UEFA Cup winners.

The Shakhtar delegation will be headed by the Ukrainian club's chief executive Sergiy Palkin, coach Mircea Lucescu and midfield player Jadson, scorer of the last-ever goal in the UEFA Cup. Shakhtar beat Bundesliga side Werder Bremen 2-1 in last year's final in Istanbul.

The ceremony will be followed by a news conference featuring Michel Platini and Ole von Beust, as well as German Football Association (DFB) president Theo Zwanziger and Bernd Hoffmann, president of Hamburger SV.
