It will be difficult to finish top of the group, but I think we have chances. We should go to win [at Apollon].

This was a result we didn't expect – they scored two great goals, but we're a little sad because we had the chance of going top of the group and in five minutes everything changed.

We pressed them high up in the first half and it wore them out and then in the second half they were more comfortable with the ball but did not create many chances. Only a few shots from distance, which is how the goals came, but otherwise they did not create much danger for us. At 2-1 to us, they had this free-kick and that great goal and we couldn't do more, but we went for the win.

We worked hard in the first half and could have scored our second goal to make the second half more comfortable, but after half-time it was the opposite. They had possession, they equalised and now we go to Cyprus looking to win. Although they [Apollon] are out, they will want to win and we should go to give our best.

We're not entirely happy. The feeling after the game is that we played well enough to score more goals, and we have not done that, and they took advantage in the end. We are pleased to be close to qualifying, but would be more so to have already qualified.

In the first period we were superior physically, but they made a tactical change that surprised us. We did not do well in the second half ... we should have taken our chances.

The feelings have to be positive because the team has generally been very good, we fought until the end and it was not easy – they have very good players. We are going to Cyprus with enthusiasm and desire to do our best in a game that for sure will be difficult. In Europe everyone wants to win. They will aim to do their best in the last game but if we play as we can, we have to go for victory without doubt.

Bruno Soriano, Villarreal midfielder
In the first half we were very intense. If we had played with such intensity in the second half possibly we would have won. It was a complete game because Gladbach are a complete and powerful team, but perhaps we need a little more, to do our best in the second half.

Every game is different and perhaps in the first half we created enough to take more chances. There are games where nothing happens and others where your effort is rewarded. Their second goal just after we scored our second hurt us.

Álvaro Domínguez, Mönchengladbach defender
Today was my first match here with a foreign team in Spain, and my family and friends have visited me. It's always nice to come back.

We knew that they start strongly at home, playing very positive football. We knew that if we endured that first half-hour, we could have our opportunities. And so it proved.

In the second half we were physically better and we were able to overcome them. They had chances and we had others. The result is fair and the point is good because we are top of the group. We have it in our own hands. Not that you can rely on that, because in football anything can happen, but we have it in our hands.

Raffael, Mönchengladbach forward
We knew the game would be difficult. The first half was difficult, but in the second half we played better and eventually got a point. We hope to qualify. We have a home game and we hope to use it to secure our progress to the next round.

In the first half, Villarreal played better, but in the second we made it more difficult for them. We had chances to score the third goal, but one point is good here.
