England midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has joined UEFA Europa League contenders Swansea City AFC for a fee of around €5.8m.
Shelvey has moved to last season's English League Cup winners from Liverpool FC and has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Welsh side. Shelvey, who represented England in all three of their group games at this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship, has also won one senior cap for his country. He spent three campaigns at Anfield, scoring seven goals in 69 appearances.
Swansea start the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League in the third qualifying round after beating fourth-tier Bradford City AFC at Wembley in February to lift the League Cup – their first major trophy. Shelvey turned out for Liverpool on nine occasions in last term's UEFA Europa League.
