Metalurh go double Dutch

FC Metalurh Donetsk have hired coaches Wim Vrosch and Tom Kaanen to replace Olexander Sevidov.

FC Metalurh Donetsk have appointed Dutchman Wim Vrosch as their new interim coach to replace Olexander Sevidov.

Dutch team
The 58-year-old Vrosch has a strong reputation in the Netherlands and for the past three years was technical director at Roda JC. Countryman Tom Kaanen, who was in charge of the Roda academy, will assist Vrosch, although it is believed the club may yet bring in another new man as head coach.

Next step
Club president Yuriy Gryaduschyi thanked Sevidov for his efforts in guiding the team to the 2003/04 UEFA Cup and said he would be offered another role at the club. "We are continuing to develop our team up to standards of a strong European club and bringing in a foreign specialist was the next step in this direction," said a statement on the club's website.

Highly skilled
Vrosch, a qualified civil engineer, had a varied playing career representing the likes of Roda, Sparta Rotterdam and SC Fortuna Sittard. He began coaching in the mid-1970s and had been with Roda since 1994.
