Wierzchowski plucked by Plock

Polish international goalkeeper Jakub Wierzchowski has signed for UEFA Cup hopefuls Wisla Plock.

Free transfer
The 26-year-old has joined Plock, the beaten Polish Cup finalists, on a free transfer after he was released by German club SV Werder Bremen. His contract details remain undisclosed.

'I want to play'
Wierzchowski, who made just three appearances in two seasons in the Bundesliga, said: "I will not walk into the team but I am determined to play and any competition for places will help."

Midfield reinforcement
As well as the former KS Ruch Chorzów keeper, Plock have also snapped up midfield player Dariusz Gesior from KS Amica Wronki. Gesior, 33, has signed a two-year deal.
