Quiet affair
The second half was a quiet affair, with Sparta happy to dominate midfield and not allow their hosts any sight on goal. Sparta themselves did get more forward on occasion, but found Široki Igor Melher in no mood to be beaten again.

Coach satisfied
Satisfied Sparta coach Jozef Jarabinský said after the game: "We had done our job already at home. We knew Široki would try to win, but we started the match offensively and secured the result."

'The tie was decided'
Široki coach Ivo Ištuk agreed that the first-leg had been decisive, saying: "The tie was decided in Prague. We tried to achieve a victory but we could not succeed."
