Bosvelt ready for Feyenoord return

Feyenoord's Paul Bosvelt is back in training after recovering from a broken left cheekbone.

Feyenoord captain Paul Bosvelt is back in full training after making a quick recovery from a broken left cheekbone.

Hurt against PSV
The 31-year-old midfield player was hurt during a goalless draw against PSV Eindhoven in December but now expects to be fully fit when the Eredivisie kicks-off again at the end of the month.

Protective mask
Bosvelt actually broke his right cheekbone in training last August and had to wear a protective mask while he recovered, but the second fracture has not proved as much of a problem as the first.

'No more pain'
”I feel no more pain whatsoever,'' said the Dutch international from Feyenoord's midwinter training camp in the Canary Islands. “I think that I will get some playing time during the training period here in Gran Canaria.”

UEFA Cup action
Feyenoord restart their season on 26 January with a visit to FC Utrecht. They are second in the table but are only one point behind AFC Ajax with a game in hand. Bosvelt will hope to be back to his best by the UEFA Cup fourth round, first-leg match against Rangers FC on 21 February.
