Frustrating spell
The 29-year-old has spent a frustrating 18-month spell with Lausanne, as the club battles to avoid relegation from Switzerland's Nationalliga A. Lombardo, who has won two Swiss championships and a Swiss cup with Grasshopper-Club, scored six times in 49 appearances for Lausanne.
Promotion in Italy
The Swiss international, capped thirteen times by his country, also won promotion to Italy's Serie A with AC Perugia in 1998 and joined Lausanne from FC Lugano in 2000.
