Club Atlético de Madrid have signed Brazilian international defender João Miranda on a free transfer from São Paulo FC.

The 26-year-old centre-back has agreed a three-year deal at the Vicente Calderón. "I'm only thinking of giving my all in order to stay here for as long as possible," he said. "As a defender, I'm quick and have technical ability and can fit into any style of play."

Miranda, who has six senior international caps to his name, made 20 appearances during a spell at Ligue 1 side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 2005/06. "When I came to Europe the first time I wasn't as ready as I am today," he said. Los Rojiblancos have already captured Gabi and Sílvio this summer and will enter the UEFA Europa League in the third qualifying round.
