UEFA Europa League Group H leaders Everton FC moved within a point of qualification for the knockout phase with a comfortable 3-0 victory against LOSC Lille.

Leon Osman and Phil Jagielka struck in the first half and Steven Naismith added a third after 61 minutes to secure Everton's second win in the group and inflict a first loss on third-placed LOSC.

On a wet evening in Liverpool, Everton started brightly, with Naismith's flick teeing up Romelu Lukaku after just 21 seconds for a shot that Vincent Enyeama turned behind. By the 27th minute they were in front, as Osman arrowed an effort back beyond Enyeama and Simon Kjær on the line after Aiden McGeady's cross had reached him at the far post following a flowing move. It was the perfect way for the 33-year-old to celebrate signing a new contract earlier in the day.

Tim Howard's only moment of concern in the first half came when he turned over a rising shot from Ryan Mendes, and by half-time Everton had a second goal. The impressive Enyeama denied Naismith from point-blank range only for Jagielka to escape Marko Baša and power home a header from McGeady's ensuing corner.

This was the French side's 100th match in UEFA club competition, but it was not one for them to remember. Les Dogues had lost 3-0 at Liverpool FC on their only previous trip to Merseyside and although Enyeama kept out Lukaku's free-kick, he was helpless when Naismith confirmed an identical scoreline by turning sharply onto Leighton Baines' cross and rifling high into the net.
