Aalborg success
The 50-year-old Swede will remain with AaB for the remainder of the season before taking control at Rosenborg on 1 June 2008. "I think it is a terrific challenge," he said, having agreed a two-year contract. "Rosenborg are a great club in Scandinavia and are respected across Europe too." Hamrén, in his fifth campaign in Aalborg, has not only established his team as Superligaen pacesetters; they also competed in the UEFA Cup group stage having qualified through the UEFA Intertoto Cup. They will resume their season in March.
Rosenborg instability
Rosenborg, 20-times Norwegian champions, finished their 2007 league campaign in fifth place, 13 points behind Tippeligaen winners SK Brann. Hamrén will replace acting coach Trond Henriksen, who stood in for Knut Tørum when the latter resigned in October. Rosenborg will play ACF Fiorentina in the UEFA Cup's Round of 32.
