Villarreal CF have signed Uruguayan midfielder Sebastián Eguren on loan from Swedish outfit Hammarby until the end of the season.

Three-pronged challenge
The 27-year-old former Uruguayan international links up with the Spanish side hoping to make a similar impression at El Madrigal to the one he made in 18 months at Hammarby. Eguren scored 13 goals in 36 appearances in Sweden, having joined from Rosenborg BK in 2006, initially on loan. The former Montevideo Wanderers FC and Club Nacional de Football man joins a Villarreal side still in contention in the Primera División, Copa del Rey and UEFA Cup though Eguren is ineligible for the latter as he appeared in the first round for Hammarby.

Xisco departure
Leaving Villarreal is 21-year-old forward Xisco Nadal, who has joined second division side CP Granada 74. The striker, a Spanish international at Under-17 and U19 level, became the youngest scorer in Primera División history with his goal against RCD Espanyol on 15 June 2003, finding the net at the age of 16 years and 354 days.
