Nürnberg to miss Misimović

1. FC Nürnberg have confirmed midfielder Zvjezdan Misimović has torn ankle ligaments and is very likely to miss the UEFA Cup Round of 32 games with SL Benfica.

UEFA Cup hopefuls 1. FC Nürnberg have confirmed midfielder Zvjezdan Misimović has torn ankle ligaments and is likely to miss both UEFA Cup Round of 32 games with SL Benfica.

Misimović twisted his left ankle in the early stages of Nürnberg's 1-1 draw with FC Hansa Rostock on Saturday and was eventually forced from the pitch after 25 minutes. An MRI scan has now revealed the full extent of the injury meaning the Bosnia-Herzegovnian international will remain sidelined for several weeks.

UEFA Cup loss
The 25-year old arrived at the German Cup winners last summer from Bundesliga rivals VfL Bochum 1848 and has played 17 Bundesliga games this season, scoring five goals with another in the UEFA Cup. Nürnberg face Benfica in Lisbon on Thursday, before welcoming the Portuguese side to Germany on 21 February.
