Chipperfield blow for Basel

Scott Chipperfield looks set to miss FC Basel 1893's UEFA Cup Round of 32 ties against Sporting Clube de Portugal after injuring his left foot on Saturday.

FC Basel 1893 midfielder Scott Chipperfield will be sidelined for several weeks due to a foot injury sustained in Saturday's win against Neuchâtel Xamax FC.

No surgery
The 32-year old partially ruptured sinews in his left foot during the 3-0 victory which maintained Basel's lead at the top of the Swiss Super League. And although the injury is to be managed without surgery, the UEFA Cup hopefuls have confirmed the Australian will be "out for several weeks". Chipperfield, who has seven goals from 16 league appearances this season, is almost certain to be unavailable for Basel's UEFA Cup Round of 32 fixtures against Sporting Clube de Portugal, the first leg of which is on Wednesday.
