VfL Wolfsburg, SC Braga, Valencia CF, Aston Villa FC, AFC Ajax and Hamburger SV are all through to the UEFA Cup Round of 32 after Thursday's Matchday 4 results, but the party is over for five other clubs.

Significant issues
The combination of Wolfsburg's 3-2 home win against Portsmouth FC and SC Braga's 2-1 victory at SC Heerenveen has settled the most significant issues in Group E. The two winning sides have joined AC Milan in the next stage of the competition, while Portsmouth and Heerenveen have nothing but pride to play for on Matchday 5. Valencia advance from Group G after a 1-1 home draw with Club Brugge KV, while Rosenborg BK are eliminated.

Žilina unlucky
The top three in Group F also know they are safely through to the last 32. Hamburg's 2-0 success at SK Slavia Praha ensured that even a 2-1 triumph at Aston Villa was not enough for MŠK Žilina to progress from the section. Žilina and Slavia are out, while Ajax are through even though they were not in action on Thursday.

Decisive encounters
The situation is more complicated in Group H, with AS Nancy-Lorraine, KKS Lech Poznań and RC Deportivo La Coruña all playing for a knockout-stage place on Matchday 5.
