Article body
Belarussian international Maxim Romaschenko has left Turkish Super League side Gaziantepspor after failing to agree a new contract.
'As much as we could afford'
"He was finished for us," said Gaziantepspor spokesman Akif Ekici after talks broke down on Wednesday. "We made an offer, which was as much as we could afford, but unfortunately he refused. We wish him the best in his future career."
Goalscoring contribution
The 27-year-old midfield player spent three seasons with the Gaziantep-based club, having joined in October 2000 from FC Dinamo Moskva. In 61 matches, Romaschenko, who also has 24 international caps and four goals to his name, scored 20 times, and helped the club to fourth position in last season's Turkish top flight and a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
