Genoa CFC have continued to reinforce ahead of their UEFA Europa League participation by signing Moroccan international Houssine Kharja from Serie A rivals AC Siena for an undisclosed fee.

Siena breakthrough
A statement on the club's website said: "Houssine Kharja is a Genoa player. He will sign a contract after undergoing a medical when he returns from his holidays." Born in France, the 26-year-old Kharja moved to Italy when he signed for Ternana Calcio in 2001. Following a brief spell at AS Roma in 2005, he joined Siena in January 2008 and scored eight goals in 51 Serie A games with the Tuscan outfit.

Comings and goings
After finishing fifth in Serie A last season, Genoa have sold Diego Milito and Thiago Motta to FC Internazionale Milano. However, they have brought in Robert Acquafresca – who will play on loan at Atalanta BC – Francesco Bolzoni, Leonardo Bonucci and Riccardo Meggiorini from the Nerazzurri, Hernán Crespo on a free transfer, Sergio Floccari from Atalanta and Ivan Fatić from AC Chievo Verona.
