Villarreal CF have recruited Brazilian attacker Nilmar from SC Internacional for a fee reported to be in the region of €10m.
International success
The 25-year-old – part of the Brazil squad which won the recent FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa – arrives at El Madrigal on a five-year contract. Nilmar has spent the majority of his career in his homeland with SC Corinthians and Internacional while he also scored two goals in 32 appearances during a stint at Olympique Lyonnais in 2004/05. The scorer of two goals in eight international appearances, Nilmar leaves Internacional with a record of 35 goals in 78 league games. Villarreal will enter this season's UEFA Europa League in the play-off round in August.
