Portugal won a thrilling match against Yemen on a high-scoring day in the FIFA World Under-17 Championship in Finland.
Yemen lead
In their opening match in Tampere-based Group C, UEFA European Under-17 champions Portugal overcame Yemen 4-3. Portugal, bidding for the only major youth trophy they have never won, trailed 2-0 at half-time and were 3-2 down with ten minutes to go.
Game turns
But two goals in the space of 60 seconds turned the game to the delight of the 6,500-strong crowd. The other group match saw Brazil, Portugal's next opponents, draw 1-1 with Cameroon, who had two players sent off.
Spain draw
Meanwhile, in Lahti-based Group D, Spain were also involved in a dramatic goal-feast as they drew 3-3 with Sierra Leone. David and Sisi put Spain two up in the first 15 minutes, but a Samuel Barlay hat-trick put the Africans ahead with 17 minutes left.
Late equaliser
However, six minutes into stoppage time subsitute Xisco headed Spain level for a valuable point. Elsewhere, the United States gained a 6-1 victory against Korean Republic, who Spain meet on Sunday.
Finnish encounter
The next matches on Saturday pit Finland, who beat China 2-1 in their opener, against Mexico in Group A. China face Colombia, while in Group B Australia play Nigeria and Argentina take on Costa Rica. The top two from each group progress to the quarter-finals.
