Trondheim take command

Early goals
Bobruichanka, making their first appearance at the quarter-final stage, conceded early goals to Therese Engen and Monica Enlid - and that pair struck again after the break to give the visitors the advantage ahead of the return on Saturday 6 November.

Duo injured
Trondheim were without midfield players Unni Lehn and Heidi Pedersen through injury, but it did not stop them dominating from the start. Bente Kvitland went close twice before they took a 12th-minute lead through Engen, who took full advantage when home goalkeeper Tatsiana Hapanovich was caught out by a high ball.

Lead doubled
Within three minutes Enlid, in for Pedersen, had converted a penalty after Sviatlana Ryzhova brought down Ragnhild Gulbrandsen. There was little joy for Bobruichanka before the break, although Tatsiana Shramok was unlucky not to connect with dangerous cross.

Engen strikes again
Five minutes after half-time Engen scored her second when she latched on to a perfect pass from Gulbrandsen. Not long afterwards, Engen was denied a hat-trick as her effort was cleared off the line by Shramok.

Strong position
However, Enlid was again on target from the spot in the 68th minute, striker Linn Nyronning having been fouled by Hapanovich. Having lost to HJK Helsinki and Fortuna Hjørring in their previous quarter-final appearances, Trondheim are now in a strong position to reach the last four in April, where the winners of this tie will meet FC Energy Voronezh or 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. Coach Trond Nordsteien declared: "I think we can say we are in the semi-finals already."
