Two-year contracts
Krieger, 23, has represented the United States at youth level and arrives on a two-year contract from Washington Freedom. Lewandowski has also agreed a deal until 2009 after the 22-year-old left Charlotte Eagles. Frankfurt general manager Siegfried Dietrich said: "We are very pleased to have been able to strengthen our defence with Ali Krieger and Gina Lewandowski, especially given that we have to play so many matches in the Bundesliga, German Cup and UEFA Women's Cup."

European campaign
Frankfurt, who also have Germany striker Conny Pohlers in their lineup for this season after her transfer from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, won their opening two Frauen Bundesliga games of 2007/08 before the league stopped for the FIFA Women's World Cup. Once games resume Frankfurt will swiftly be into their bid for a record third UEFA Women's Cup as they face Belgian hosts KF Rapide Wezemaal, Valur Reykjavík and Everton LFC in second qualifying round Group B3 from 11-16 October.
