UEFA has launched a competition to welcome the UEFA Champions League finals back to London which will give local schoolchildren the opportunity to have their flag on display in front of a global audience at the UEFA Women's Champions League final at Stamford Bridge on Thursday 23 May.

'Join the Game' is the theme for this year's UEFA Champions League finals, with London staging the biggest event in both men's and women's European club football once more. Together with Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, and The Football Association, UEFA wants to inspire young pupils to play their part and get involved in this year's celebration of football.

The flag design competition, aimed at children between the ages of six and 16, requires participants to design their own personal flag for the UEFA Women's Champions League final with entrants asked to capture the spirit of the occasion.

Children have until 30 April to submit their entries and then a specially appointed UEFA judging panel will select the winning designs. These will then be reproduced as giant flags and used to decorate the Stamford Bridge stadium during the UEFA Women's Champions League final.

The children who create the winning designs will be invited with their families to the final and their giant flags will be seen by thousands of spectators in the stadium and on television around the world.

The school and football club that submits the most entries will receive an exclusive visit from the UEFA Champions League trophies as part of the UEFA Trophy Tour and some official adidas UEFA Champions League match balls.
