Kuznik comes to Wolfsburg

UEFA Women's Champions League holders VfL Wolfsburg have further strengthened with the signing of defender Peggy Kuznik.

Kuznik, 26, has signed a two-year deal after joining from SC Bad 07 Neuenahr, following the same path as goalkeeper Almuth Schult, who moved to Wolfsburg last month. A FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup winner with Germany in 2004, Kuznik helped 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam to victory in the UEFA Women's Cup the following year.

Wolfsburg coach Ralf Kellermann, whose side won the German double as well as UEFA Women's Champions League last season, said: "We are delighted that Peggy has chosen us. She's a robust central defender who is strong in the air.

"She arrives with both Bundesliga and international experience and will certainly help us achieve our goals. We've plugged a gap in our defence, one that was left when Rebecca Smith and Navina Omilade-Keller departed."

Joining a team that begin their European title defence in the round of 32, Kuznik said: "It's brilliant that this deal has worked out. This change represents a big challenge for me. My goal is to seize this opportunity and prove myself in a top team. I want to achieve success with the club and win a few titles along the way."
