VfL Wolfsburg captain Nadine Kessler has extended her contract with the UEFA Women's Champions League holders until summer 2015.
Kessler, 25, joined Wolfsburg from fellow German Women's Bundesliga side 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in 2011 and was a key member of the side who triumphed over Olympique Lyonnais in last season's UEFA Women's Champions League final. The midfielder is currently in Sweden aiming to help Germany win a sixth straight UEFA Women's EURO title.
"Wolfsburg is the best thing that could have happened to me," she said. "I am very happy that I will be playing for Wolfsburg in the years to come and I'm thankful for the faith being put in me. I couldn't imagine better sporting conditions than at VfL. The level of determination here is impressive."
Wolfsburg coach Ralf Kellermann added: "Nadine is a leader and a role model in the team. To be able to plan for the future with her means we get to keep a foundation pillar of our squad."
