• What you need to know

• The final will be a Franco-German affair for the sixth time in the seven seasons since the launch of the UEFA Women's Champions League, the only exception in 2013/14 when Wolfsburg won 4-3 in Lisbon against Sweden's Tyresö.

• Wolfsburg or Frankfurt will ensure a German finalist for the ninth consecutive season and the 13th time in all 15 editions of the UEFA Women's Champions League and its predecessor, the UEFA Women's Cup. Both exceptions involved Sweden's Umeå, who beat Denmark's Fortuna Hjørring in 2003 but lost to Arsenal four years later.

• If Lyon make the final it will be a rematch of either 2012, when they overcame Frankfurt 2-0 in Munich, or 2013, when OL fell 1-0 to Wolfsburg in London.

• Last season Paris knocked out Wolfsburg in the semis, inflicting their only European defeat to date – 2-0 in the first leg in Germany – before the French side succumbed 2-1 to Frankfurt in the Berlin final.

• Wolfsburg and Paris are both aiming to be the first team to win both the men's and women's UEFA Champions League, having claimed neither titles before this season.

• These sides met in the round of 16 last term, Paris drawing 1-1 at home before winning 1-0 at Stade de Gerland to inflict Lyon's second straight loss at that stage of the competition.

• Lyon had been involved in the only other previous all-French tie, when they saw off Juvisy 3-0 at home and 6-1 away in the 2012/13 semi-finals.

• Despite last season's European exit, Lyon have dominated Paris at domestic level. In the current league campaign Lyon thrashed Paris 5-0 at home in September before a 0-0 draw in the return in February.

• Overall in 29 competitive meetings since Paris were promoted in 2004, Lyon have won 21, drawn five and lost three against their rivals, and have claimed the last nine league titles.

• The Paris squad includes former Lyon players Kenza Dali, Laura Georges, Rosana and Shirley Cruz Traña. Other than Dali, all won the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2011 or 2012 with Lyon.

• Lyon's Camille Abily spent part of season 2009/10 at Paris on loan from the United States, in between her two OL spells. Back-up Lyon goalkeeper Méline Gérard began her senior career with Paris.

• Abily is one win away from becoming the first player to register 50 victories in the competition. Louisa Necib is one behind on 48 and Élodie Thomis has 46 is an all-Lyon top three.

• Cruz Traña is suspended for the first leg along with team-mate Jessica Houara-d'Hommeaux. Lyon have lostClaire Lavogez to injury.

• This term Lyon have overtaken Turbine Potsdam as UEFA women's club competition all-time top scorers, with their current haul 247 from 67 matches, with only 26 conceded.

• Paris striker Anja Mittag this season moved ahead of Conny Pohlers as the competition's all-time top individual scorer on 49 goals.

• Lyon forward Ada Hegerberg is four off the record of 14 goals in a single season, set by Pohlers in 2004/05 for Turbine Potsdam and equalled by Margrét Lára Vidarsdóttir of Valur Reykjavík in 2008/09 and Frankfurt's Célia Šašić in 2014/15.

• Frankfurt are making a record eighth semi-final appearance, moving one clear of Umeå. Their tallies of six finals and four titles are already outright bests.

• Wolfsburg have kept up their record of reaching the semi-finals in all their European entries.

• This is the first time these clubs have met in Europe but both have happy memories of all-German encounters, then holders Wolfsburg ousting Turbine Potsdam 4-2 at home after a 0-0 away draw in the 2013/14 semis.

• Frankfurt dismissed Potsdam 4-0 away and 3-2 at home in the 2005/06 final and but lost 3-1 at home and 2-0 away against Duisburg in the 2008/09 quarter-finals. In both cases the losers were the defending champions.

• In the other all-German ties, Potsdam knocked out Duisburg in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 semi-finals. Potsdam's 2010/11 final reverse to Lyon is the only occasion a German team have not lifted the trophy after eliminating league rivals in the competition.

• Wolfsburg are unbeaten in their last six games against Frankfurt dating back to a November 2013 German Cup tie, beating them 2-0 away on 11 October and 3-1 at home on 20 March in their two league tussles this season.

• Overall in 22 meetings since Wolfsburg returned to the Frauen Bundesliga in 2006, Frankfurt have won ten and the Wolves nine with three draws.

• Wolfsburg's squad includes former Frankfurt player Babett Peter. Yuki Ogimi moved the other way last summer while Peggy Kuznik also had a short stay at Wolfsburg.

• With their penalty shoot-out successes in the round of 16 (v LSK Kvinner) and quarter-finals (v Rosengård), Frankfurt became the first side to have been involved in three UEFA women's club shoot-outs, losing to Umeå in the 2002/03. There have only been eight overall.
