Laura Österberg Kalmari has retained her Finnish women's player of the year title at the country's annual football gala in Helsinki.
The 31-year-old was recognised for a fifth time by the Football Association of Finland (SPL-FBF) after impressing for Sky Blue FC in the United States' Women's Professional Soccer competition.
"It feels great, as it has done every time I've won this award," said the Finnish international. "This has been one of the best seasons of my career, the challenge of playing [in the USA] is a great one. I'm happy I took the chance and that everything has gone well over there.
"I've also done my best for the national team. We've played some great games but it wasn't quite enough to get us to the World Cup." When asked about the possibility of her retiring from the national team, Österberg Kalmari replied: "At the moment everything is still open. Qualifying for the next EURO begins next autumn and we'll see how things are when we get closer to that."
