Iceland 5-0 Serbia
Margrét Lára Vidarsdóttir scored four as Iceland concluded their preparations for UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ with an emphatic victory in FIFA Women's World Cup qualification Group 1.

Headed goals
The 12-goal leading scorer in qualifying for the forthcoming finals in Finland, Vidarsdóttir fired Siggi Eyjólfsson's side in front with a free-kick on 32 minutes in Reykjavik. The Kristianstads DFF forward doubled the lead four minutes after the restart and completed her hat-trick from close range on 72 minutes, before Katrín Jónsdóttir headed in number four eight minutes later. Vidarsdóttir claimed her fourth with a header six minutes from time, one of 25 Iceland efforts on goal.

'Confidence' boosted
Of her four-goal haul and Iceland's display in their final friendly before they play France in Group B on 24 August, Vidarsdóttir said: "This is good for our confidence and bodes well for the future. There were things we had to improve upon in attack but that is normal given that we have focused more on our defensive game in preparing for Finland."

'Rusty'
Eyjólfsson was delighted with his team's attacking display but would not reveal what his lineup is likely to be against France in Tampere. "It was good to play in such an attacking way because our friendlies have been against strong nations," said Eyjólfsson, whose side also play Germany and Norway at the finals. "We were a little rusty to begin with but our rhythm improved as the game wore on.

'Small adjustments'
"I don't know if this will be our lineup; we have to look more closely at the game and at our opponents in Finland before we can settle on a strategy, so it's too early to tell. We will make some small adjustments but no major changes. What was very important for us was the support we got from the fans so now we go to Finland knowing that the nation is behind us." Iceland resume their World Cup qualifying bid at home to Estonia on 17 September, nine days before Serbia play Croatia.
