Liverpool's 7-0 win at Maribor equalled the record UEFA Champions League away margin of victory but was one short of their own overall competition best.

Twice before a team had scored seven without reply away from home in the competition proper: Marseille at Žilina in November 2010 and Shakhtar Donetsk at BATE Borisov in October 2014. Liverpool equalled that but were one short of the 8-0 by which they defeated Beşiktaş in November 2007, equalled eight years later by Real Madrid against Malmö.
