Two victories
Already into their debut futsal finals. Romania were playing non-European opposition for the first time and won the first fixture in Buzau 5-4, Florin Matei striking twice. The next day Romania took on the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers in Focsani and won 3-2, Csoma Alpar scoring twice to add to his goal in the first game and Dumitru Stoica also on target.

Further fixtures
Zoltán Jakab's side will discover their opposition for November's European finals in Porto when the draw is made on 12 May. Four days later the play the first of two home friendlies against Slovakia, and before the finals Romania also visit Turkey, welcome Georgia and travel for return fixtures in Egypt.
