Russia were given a thorough work-out in their preparations for the UEFA European Futsal Championship as they were beaten twice in two away friendlies against a Brazil side made up of domestic-based players.
Close affair
The first match was a tight affair that finished 3-1 to the reigning world champions. After some early Russian pressure, Murilo scored for Brazil just before the break and Frede added another 24 seconds after the interval, only for Dmitri Prudnikov to set up Cirilo to quickly respond against the nation of his birth. Carlinhos clinched victory with 13 minutes left.
Decisive win
However, the following day Russia were beaten 6-0. Vander Carioca and Frede scored twice and Carlinhos and goalkeeper Tiago were also on target. Russia, who also lost twice to hosts Brazil at last year's FIFA Futsal World Cup, face Serbia and Slovenia in Group C in the European finals in Hungary in January.
