Ukraine came away from their two friendlies in Romania with one victory and one defeat.
Ukraine prevail
In the first game in Buzau, Romania led at half-time but Mykhaylo Romanov – who scored twice in the 2-2 qualifying draw that took Ukraine to the UEFA European Futsal Championship at their opponents' expense – equalised on 29 minutes. Fedir Pylypiv and Yevgen Rogachov put Ukraine in control and although Romania pulled one back with five minutes left, Rogachov, Mykhaylo Volyanuk, Dmytro Ivanov and Yevgen Valenko extended the lead before three late goals from the home side, with Robert Florin Matei completing a hat-trick, pulling it back to 7-5.
Fortunes reversed
Romania gained revenge the following day Robert Lupu and Emil Raduku scoring for a 2-1 win despite Valenko's consolation. Ukraine begin their finals campaign in Hungary on 21 January against Belgium in Debrecen before a second Group B fixture against Italy two days later.
