The UEFA Executive Committee, chaired by UEFA President Michel Platini, holds its latest meeting in St. Julian's, Malta, on Thursday and Friday.

With the UEFA EURO 2016 final tournament in France next summer drawing closer, the committee will hear the latest update on preparations for the first 24-team finals. As work on the various stadiums reaches completion, and final arrangements are put in place, the action in an exciting qualifying competition is reaching its climax.

Austria, the Czech Republic, England and Iceland have already qualified for the final tournament, while 31 other nations can still reach France with two sets of qualifying group games to go. The final tournament draw will take place in Paris on 12 December this year.

Between 10 June and 10 July next year, the 24 finals contenders, including hosts France, will contest 51 games over 32 days at the ten venues – Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.

The two-chamber Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) oversees the application of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations and, as an organ for the administration of justice, may impose disciplinary measures in the event of non-fulfilment of the regulations' requirements. Updated regulations for the 2015-18 period were approved by the Executive Committee in Prague in June.

The Executive Committee will be asked in Malta to proceed with the appointment of a chief investigator of the CFCB. The chief investigator heads the CFCB's investigatory chamber, and the appointee will succeed the late Jean-Luc Dehaene.

The Executive Committee will also deal with the appointment of a UEFA special representative for Crimea, following recent football developments in the region.

A press conference with UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino will follow the Executive Committee meeting on Friday at 12.00CET, and will be streamed live on UEFA.org.

The next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee will take place in Paris on 11 December 2015, ahead of the UEFA EURO 2016 final round draw.
