Enosis strike a blow for underdogs

Members

Enosis Neon Paralimniou FC pulled off a shock 2-1 win against Omonia Nicosia FC in the Cypriot Cup quarter-finals.

Just deserts
Late goals from Georgos Kolanis and Levan Kebadze secured a deserved victory for the home team against title-chasing Omonia. After a quiet first half, Enosis went ahead on 77 minutes when Kolanis collected a Demos Goumenos pass to score past keeper Stefan Brasas. Kebadze doubled the lead moments later before Haris Nicolaou brought Omonia back into the tie with a vital away goal in the dying seconds.

Going to form
The quarter-final between AEK Larnaca FC and Anorthosis Famagusta FC went to league form, with Anorthosis claiming a 4-0 victory at the New GSZ stadium. Vladan Tomic, Vedran Pelic with two, and Temur Ketsbaia scored the goals that all but sealed a semi-final place for Anorthosis, who are third in the First Division table behind Omonia and APOEL Nicosia FC.

No surprise
League leaders APOEL also won away from home, 2-0 at Ethnikos Achnas FC. APOEL struck first through Marios Elias on 40 minutes before Barnabas Sztipanovics added a second from the penalty spot moments after half-time. Meanwhile, Olympiakos Nicosia FC beat AEL Limassol FC 2-1 with goals either side of the interval from Panagiotis Filiotis and Josef Kozlej. Olympiakos had fallen behind to an early strike from Chrysis Michael but recovered to take a slim advantage to Limassol for the second leg.
