Tottenham Hotspur FC are to sign international Timothée Atouba from Swiss champions FC Basel 1893.

English side Tottenham Hotspur FC have announced the signing of Cameroonian international Timothée Atouba from Swiss champions FC Basel 1893.

Left-sided options
The London club said on their website that the 22-year-old, who can play at left-back or in midfield and has won 12 international caps, has agreed to join but that the deal was subject to "formalities being completed".

'Strong and versatile'
"Timothée is a strong, versatile left-footed player," Tottenham's sporting director Frank Arnesen told the website. "He comes to us from Basel where he gained experience of playing in the ]UEFA] Champions League against teams such as Manchester United [FC] and Liverpool [FC]. He plays for the national team of Cameroon and was nominated for the African Cup of Nations representative team last season. We are delighted he will be in our squad for the new season."
