Former FC Spartak Moscow and Internazionale FC midfield player Igor Shalimov has announced his decision to retire at the age of 33.
Glittering career
The Russian international won the 1991 European Under-21 Championships with USSR and later represented Russia at EURO 96™. He has already been installed as head coach at Russian second division side FK Krasnoznamensk, where he became a technical director during a two-year ban imposed on him in 1999 for an alleged doping offence. After announcing his retirement, Shalimov assumed head coach functions at the club, which is set to be renamed FK Stolitsa Moscow before relocating in the capital city.
