Rosato, who collected 37 caps, won the 1968 UEFA European Championship with the Azzurri and was a runner-up with Italy at the FIFA World Cup two years later. The pinnacle of his club career, which also included spells with Torino FC and Genoa CFC, was a seven-season stint at AC Milan during which time he won a Serie A title, a European Champion Clubs' Cup, two UEFA Cup Winners' Cups and four Coppa Italias. Italy's players wore black armbands to commemorate Rosato during Sunday's 1-1 World Cup draw with New Zealand.
