Lago leaves Las Palmas

Racing Santander have signed winger Pablo Lago from fellow Spanish side UD Las Palmas.

Increased stability
Lago has moved away from the Canary Islands side on a free transfer as Las Palmas were keen to reduce their wage bill in preparation for the new Primera División season. "I have come to a club that has offered me stability, something Las Palmas were unable to give me," said Lago, who began his career with Rayo Vallecano.

No move for Munitis
Meanwhile, Racing's director of sport Quique Setien has ruled out an attempt to bring former Racing hero Pedro Munitis back from Real Madrid CF, where he is surplus to requirements. "We would like to have him, but it is very difficult. I would never demand my directors brought in a player who costs as much as he does," said Setien.
