Wil refused licence

Members

FC Wil 1900's immediate future is in doubt after they were denied a B licence for the Swiss First Division.

Documentary evidence
Having been refused an A licence last month, Wil failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove themselves capable of managing their finances during the 2003/04 campaign. However, the club say they will provide the necessary documents next week for an A licence. The B licence is provisional.

Financial troubles
Wil were the only top-flight side to fail a financial assessment and have been the subject of controversy after former president Andreas Hafen admitted that he partly funded the club with money defrauded from a bank in St. Gallen where he was also president.

'No surprise'
"For us this is no surprise. The documents we provided were more a declaration of our future plans. On 27 May we will present documents that should bring us the A licence and provide the necessary financial guarantees," said Wil's current president Rogger Bigger.
