Second-half whitewash
Saša Ilic gave Partizan an early lead but the top-flight newcomers soon equalised. Andrija Delibasic then restored Partizan's advantage only for Kom to level again on 34 minutes. However, the conquerors of Newcastle United FC dominated a second half interrupted for 20 minutes by heavy rain with two goals from Ljubinko Drulovic, another by Delibasic and a sixth from Damir Cakar. OFK Beograd are the leaders with a 100 per cent record after beating ten-man FK Obilic 1-0.

Dinamo delight
Over the border in Croatia, NK Dinamo Zagreb overcame rivals HNK Hajduk Split 1-0 at home. In wet conditions, Romanian forward Dumitru Mitu scored in the eighth minute and Dinamo held on to move three points clear of Hajduk with a chance to extend that advantage on Wednesday when they play a postponed match against HNK Rijeka.

Basel supreme
FC Basel's supremacy in the Swiss Super League moved up a gear as they gained a decisive 4-0 victory at the side that pipped them to last season's championship, Grasshopper-Club. A first-half goal from Murat Yakin was followed after the break by two by Marco Streller and one from Benjamin Huggel. Basel are now nine points clear of BSC Young Boys, beaten 4-1 by Servette FC, and will be further strengthened by the return of top scorer Christian Giménez from a foot injury and Hakan Yakin from his abortive move to Paris Saint-Germain FC.

Rangers leave it late
Champions League entrants Rangers FC and Celtic FC both won their Scottish Premier League games. Leaders Rangers kept up their 100 per cent record with a 3-1 win at Dundee United FC, but needed an 85th-minute goal from Shota Arveladze and a subsequent penalty by Mikel Arteta to secure victory. Henrik Larsson's hat-trick ensured Celtic beat Livingston FC 5-1 to remain two points behind.

Anderlecht victory
RSC Anderlecht are another Champions League club celebrating as they beat KSK Beveren 1-0 to retain the only 100 per cent record after four Belgian First Division rounds. Ivica Mornar's tenth-minute goal kept Anderlecht two points clear of Club Brugge KV, who won 4-0 at R. Antwerp FC, and R. Standard de Liège, 1-0 victors at K. Lierse SK.

Close in Romania
FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's reign at the top of the Romanian First Division is over after a 2-0 defeat at CF Gloria Bistrita 1922. FC Steaua Bucuresti took first place with a 1-1 draw against FC Petrolul Ploiesti, but only two points separate the top eight teams after four games.

Perfect record
PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv kept up the only perfect Bulgarian Premier League record as they made it four wins from four by beating local rivals PFC Botev Plovdiv 3-2, Boban Jancevski's 86th-minute winner settling the game against a side reduced to ten men in the first half. Two points behind, title-holders PFC CSKA Sofia put their Champions League exit to Galatasaray SK behind them by beating newly-promoted PFC Makedonska Slava 4-1.

Spectacular goal
In the Danish Superliga, Esbjerg fB remain one point clear at the top after a 2-0 victory against FC Midtjylland. EfB were shot ahead by Tommy Bechmann before victory was confirmed late on by Hans Henrik Andreasen's spectacular 45-metre strike.

Estonian record
FC Flora's Tor Henning Hamre became the first player in the Esonian Meistriliiga's history to score in nine consecutive games when the Norwegian striker claimed the opener against JK Trans Narva in a 3-1 win. The victory, the unbeaten title-holders' sixth in a row, keeps them a point clear of FC TVMK Tallinn with two games in hand.

Barry defeat
Financially-troubled Welsh Premiership champions Barry Town AFC were forced to register 22 amateur players to fulfil Saturday's fixture against Caernarfon Town FC after their professional squad and manager were released, and lost 8-0.
