København sign Mykland and Albrechtsen

Danish champions FC København have signed former Norwegian international Erik Mykland from TSV 1860 München. The club has also captured the signature of highly-rated defender Martin Albrechtsen from Superligaen rivals Akademisk Boldklub.

'Greatest talent'
"We have signed the greatest football talent in Denmark and the best midfielder in Scandinavia," said Sport Director Niels Christian Holmström as the two players were presented at a press conference on Monday.

'Great vision'
Mykland was suspended by 1860 for criticising boss Peter Pacult during the winter break and has been seeking a move ever since. "Ståle Solbakken recommended the club to me and I can tell the club has great vision. My goal is to get back to first-team football and I am looking forward to the challenge."

Successful spell
The 'Little Mosquito' enjoyed a successful spell at Panathinaikos FC in Greece before he decided to try his luck in Munich after EURO 2000™. He quit international football in summer 2000 after falling out with coach Johan Nils Semb, whom he heavily criticised in his autobiography.

'Bigger club'
Albrechtsen has put pen to paper to four-and-a-half-year contract thought to be worth around €2m. The 21-year-old, who made his debut in the Danish national team in the friendly against Slovenia last year, said: "I have been very happy with AB but FC København is a much bigger club and will offer me a better chance to eventually pursue a career outside of Denmark".
