Bolton Wanderers FC today signed Greek international Kostas Konstantinidis from Hertha BSC Berlin until the end of the season.
Injured defenders
The 29-year-old defender is set to make his debut against Aston Villa FC in the FA Premiership on Saturday, providing he gets international clearance in time. Bolton manager Sam Allardyce moved quickly to obtain Konstantinidis's services with both Gudni Bergsson and Mike Whitlow out injured.
Third Bundesliga player
The experienced international becomes the third player to join Bolton on loan from the 1. Bundesliga since the turn of the year. Allardyce drafted in Fredi Bobic from BV Borussia Dortmund and Youri Djorkaeff from 1. FC Kaiserslautern under a similar arrangement.
Looking for cover
Allardyce is continuing to look for cover ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline in England. Belgian midfield player Didier Dheedene of TSV 1860 München has been training at the club and played in a private match against Huddersfield Town FC yesterday. "We did not want to block this chance for him," said 1860 coach Peter Pacult." But that does not automatically mean that he has no future here though."
